Net preamble
If you’ve never heard a directed net before, here’s a shortened version of what our Net Control reads at the top of each session — it gives you a sense of the format and tone.
“CQ CQ CQ, this is [callsign], Net Control for the Burbank Amateur Radio Club net. This is a directed net — please check in only when called. We welcome all licensed amateurs. If you have emergency or priority traffic, please call now. Otherwise, please call by your suffix when I ask for check-ins.”
